Portia Harmon graduated from North Carolina Central University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. During her undergraduate years, Portia spent time volunteering at John Avery Boys and Girls Club serving as a mentor. She served as a lateral entry teacher while in school to obtain a degree in Elementary Education. Over the past five years, Portia teaches 3rd grade at Parkwood Elementary. She also serves as grade chair, SIT team member, PBIS team member, Beginning Teacher mentor, and mClass facilitator. Portia can be reached at [email protected].

PORTIA IS A FELLOW IN THE NCSU COHORT
The NCSU Cohort is a Master of School Administration program modeled after NC State’s award-winning and nationally-recognized, Northeast Leadership Academy. A grant from the state of NC through the North Carolina Alliance for School Leadership Development (NCASLD) funds the new NCSU Cohort, including full scholarships for the NCSU Cohort’s Fellows. Once they complete the program, NCSU Cohort Fellows will earn a NC school principal license and a Master of School Administration degree.
