BIOGRAPHY
Portia is a proud North Carolina Central graduate, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice in 2012. During her undergraduate years, Portia spent time volunteering at John Avery Boys and Girls Club serving as a mentor. She served as a lateral entry teacher at Parkwood Elementary while returning to North Carolina Central University in 2014 to obtain a degree in Elementary Education. She has taught 3rd grade at Parkwood Elementary. During her time at Parkwood Elementary, she also served as grade chair, SIT team member, PBIS team member, Beginning Teacher mentor, and mClass facilitator.
In April 2018, Portia entered the Principal Leadership Program at North Carolina State University as a result of the educational opportunities she received. Portia considers herself to be a lifelong learner and is greatful for the learning opportunities NCSU Principal Leadrship has provided her throughtout the complextion of the program. Portia is passionate about providing equitable education experiences to all students while building impactful relationships with all members of the schools' community.
